I have a bunch of shows in WAV format that I also want to have in MP3 format. Can someone with good experience in this area recommend some good, easy, and fast software for this purpose.

Thanks,

T-cat

Lately I've been using dBpowerAMP http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ for all my conversion tasks.

Sorry to be repetitive on the board today!!! Just want to raise some awareness regarding the MP3 encoder that comes with mkwACT

Regarding this: I use CD Wave or mkwACT depending on excataly what im doing .. they both fork fine for me

For what it's worth, dBpowerAMP and CD Wave (v. 1.93+) use LAME. Also, WinAMP has a plugin called "out_lame".

Personally, I use the command line version of LAME for my MP3's. Typically, this is the command I've been using.

lame -h -V 4 x.wav x.mp3

where x is the filename.

I guess I should mention that mp3s are throwaway files for me just for the PC HD . all my cds are wav via SHN or flac.. so dont chastize me please
also I make em at the highest rate possible .. 320 mostly .. some 256 .. Im not doing anything wrong and it works GREAT for me

I hear ya man, and rest assured I would NEVER recomend an MP3 by ANY software as a PRIMARY source .. I know MP3s are shit .. and any related software is just a shit factory regardless of how well it works .. I should have been more specific in my original post I suppose

no offense taken I just wanted to "clear up the fact" that IMO if your looking for 3rd string small size backups you arent listening to all that often ... it works .. and for the record I use CDwave more often .. and certainly on the shows/songs I "care" about

and I think it goes withoutsaying (even though I am) you should be burned in hell for all eternity if you trade such files..
